The Colonial Times

The colonial times covers the history from the beggining of European settlement and particularly the history of the 13 colonies of Britain until they declared independence in 1776. In the 16th century, Netherlands, England, Scotland, France , Spain , and Sweden began to colonize North America.

By the time European settlers arrived around 1600~1650 the Native Americans living in the Eastern United States America had been dead by new diseases.

Areas of Conflict

Various tribes and groups of settlers endured many hardships. Areas of conflict ranged from spread disease to warfare. The Native Americans and Colonial Americans fought for land and food. The Native Americans were forced to move around the country.

Areas of Cooperation

Even though Colonial and Native Americans faced many hardships, they somehow needed to survive. So yes, they did cooperate with each other. One example, that everybody knows, is Thanksgiving. They celebrated together,

The American Revolution

the Boston Massacre
In 1770 some teenaged boys were throwing snowballs at some lobsterbacks. A crowd started to form, so one of the soldiers got out its bayonett. the crowd started to get even bigger. Someone shouted "kill him!" No one knows who shot it but it was said, "fire!" after a cloud of smoke, 5 men were found dead and many other wounded.

The Boston Tea
In 1773 the colonist were tired of taxes. So the Sons Of Liberty set off to dump the tea into the Boston Harbor. They dressed up as Mohawk Indians so the British wouldn't know it was the colonist dumping the tea. Yet it just gave the colonist more punishment. Now the taxes got higher and now nothing was aloud to come or leave the Boston Harbor.
